Debbie Day has been active in the horse since she was a young girl. She grew up showing horses both English and Western and enjoyed working a variety of horse related jobs through college. She was actively involved in the Equine program at Cal Poly, Pomona, while working on her first Bachelor’s degree. Her aptitude for working with horses led her to be assistant to reining horse trainer, Dave Klesper, for six years. She went on to be the horse trainer and teach the Horse Behavior and Training class for Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut after that. Now she enjoys working from the Rockin D Ranch where she has resided since 1988.
Debbie’s emphasis is in getting a solid foundation on young horses and in resolving problem issues with older horses. She abides by the philosophy of being “as light as you can but as firm as you need to be”.
The majority of her clients seek to have their horses safe and reliable for pleasure riding. For those clients geared to compete, Debbie is adept in progressing through the levels of training to finish a horse. Her success as a trainer comes from working to get training results based on realistic goals. She works with the horses’ owner to develop communication, understanding and respect between horse and rider.
